About Tempest Dance
A Brighton dance school built on movement, joy and a lot of hard work. Two studios on North Road, since 2014.
How it started
Founded in 2014 by Nadia Tempest
Nadia Tempest trained at Rambert before coming home to Brighton to open a school of her own. The idea was simple. Teach real dance well, and make room for everyone, from three year olds to grown ups who always wished they had started.
Today Tempest Dance runs from two studios on North Road with a team of six teachers. We teach ballet, contemporary, street and tap, and we still know every dancer by name.
The big night
One show, the whole school
Every July the whole school takes the stage at the Brighton Dome. Last year 240 dancers performed, from the tiny movers to the adults, in front of a full house of proud families.
A term of classes builds towards that night. It is where nerves turn into confidence, and where a lot of our dancers decide this is their thing for good.
Where we stand
Proper training, proudly local
- Exams run through the IDTA, taken when a dancer is ready.
- Wins at three regional competitions across 2025.
